One of the best ways I’ve found to build rapport with a client team is to have a list of Top 10 Self-Defeating Behaviors as my Windows wallpaper and screen saver.  As folks are filing in for a meeting, they naturally look at what’s on the screen for a clue as to what we’re going to cover in the meeting.  Instead, the start reading the self-defeating behavior list and discussion ensues.  It’s a great conversation starter and a great reminder to you to make sure you don’t fall prey to these behaviors.
